My career
My interest in tech started early. I wrote my first line of code at 10 and by the time I was 16, I was selling custom blog templates for artists and building websites for bands (including my own).
Curiosity about the intersection of technology and human interaction led to early career roles in social media and marketing analytics. At AAA, this led to the creation of a specialized role just for me! As Social Analytics Manager, I founded our Social Insights practice, spending a year traveling across the country to secure adoption for our Social Media Center of Excellence from club CEO & CMOs and co-leading a team of 6 specialists.
From there I moved from national to global brands, managing Social Media insights for the global banking brand Barclays. In my role as AVP, Social Media, I was responsible for managing all 26 of Barclays’ US partnerships, our global Social Insights team, and our Content Creator and Influencer program. From there, the Uber partner group poached me for AVP, Product Marketing to lead cross-functional teams in bringing a high priority credit product to market, overseeing all aspects of go-to-market - including User Research. For my work bringing the Uber Credit Card to market, I received both US and International Awards.
Working as a User Researcher, I feel I am standing at the center of myself. My intersecting interests & experiences across development, design, marketing, social media, analytics, product, and research have influenced how I manage projects, people, and my own journey.
Hobbies and interests
Me at my workbench circa 2015.
Design
An appreciation for design research is rooted in my own personal creative practice. My accessories have appeared on New York Magazine's - The Cut, PAPER Mag, Lucky Magazine and Redbook, and my illustrations have been carried by clients including the Mutter Museum, Urban Outfitters, and Schoolhouse Electric & Supply Co.
Photography
I enjoy shooting digital and film photography on a very simple Rolleimat F. Most of my work is paired with some sort of ethnography or documentary writing. I am drawn to the way a person’s story can change our impression of the subject.
Publishing
Lastly, I run a small press, publishing and distributing creative works on paper. My first release will feature the work of Alan Brown (“Medusawolf”), who is best known for his illustration work for Mastodon’s Grammy Award Winning Emperor of Sand.
